Armadillo Armadillos are small mammals, known for their bony armored shell.
In the United States, the sole resident armadillo is the Nine-banded Armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus),
which is most common in the central southernmost states, especially Texas. Armadillos are known
for their innate propensity to become road kill. When startled, they spontaneously jump straight up...
to near perfect fender height. Armadillos are prolific diggers, using their sharp claws to dig up grubs,
and to dig tunnels and dens. They like to live near creeks and streams. They are a golf course
manager's worst nightmare, and they can quickly turn a beautiful grassy front yard into a something
resembling a mine field. Their tunnels can also create water drainage problems and even flooding.
Successful control measures vary according to each situation, so call us for some armadillo
